:: more on medical stuff ::

i ought to be finishing the last 5 pages of my respi system but i just had to say something. i think so far, i've been very lucky, getting all the really keen tutors, they are so keen that when they find out that they only have ONE tutorial with us and will probably NEVER see us again, u could see the disappointment in their eyes. (yah, sadly, i change tutors practically every day, it does make it hard for us to learn.)

till now i'm quite blur, i dunno how to do a proper examination of the systems (maybe it's cuz i just started medical posting) hmmm but then, i really really really dunno what to do in practise. sure, i got my info fr talley, but then the actual examination at times may differ.

so far... respi
1. chk no. of fingers that can be placed in the region btwn sternal angle and inferior border of cricoid cartilage
2. compare symmetry of chest expansion using palms placed to encircle the thorax diameter (not v necessary)
3. percuss (shucks, i NEED lots of practice on that, or i'll be bruising the patient. so far most stuff upon percussion do not produce much sound)
4. auscultate... as the doc said, u can NEVER see too many cases! yup, fr monday onwards i shall aim to clerk a certain no. of patients a day. i hope to do at least 3 a day, best 4.

yl: do u have to report at 8am everyday? postings supposed to end at 5pm for me, but most times we get to leave a little earlier. actually if really want to slack some days could leave by 3.30pm... but i think i shall not!

today we discovered the doctor's lounge, their 'bedrooms', gymnasium and i think there's a recreational room. i also understand finally why in TTSH you don't see doctors walking around much, they all seems hidden somewhere, unlike in NUH where u see them all around. :)
