:: night duty ::

did our first night duty this tuesday... hmm waited all the way from 7pm till 815pm for the doctor to come. we were kind of passed around like a rugby ball fr one HO to another, only no one wanted the ball. (haha.. no lah, they were just too bz. really, the hosp seems extra bz at night too, all kinds of activities going on as usual like xrays, ops, venepunctures...) i realised tt HO do a lot of work tt actually the nurses can do, i guess it's just a year for them to really practise and drill in the practical stuff they have learnt. so i saw plenty of HOs (all v blur, cuz they started work on 30th apr) doing venepuncture, delivering drugs by iv bolus, doing blood cultures and so on... i heard the starting pay is like 1.2 or 1.8? not sure... but MO seems like 4.0 liao. not sure, but i think it's possible.... i shall double chk my sources on monday.

i'm home alone (wif a pulex irritans) cuz my parents went to bangkok, just for 4 days however. it's back to my brinjal diet for now. haha...

anyway, back to night duty, at 815pm, we got an 'assignment' (oooo) to clerk a pt in ... ... (can't say or they'll sue my pants off) then we talked for like 1hr, and we split into two grps, one went to find another pt elsewhere and the rest of us went to followup on a pt, n see how they do venepuncture for bld culture. (rem! v impt, change the needle after blood taking, so that you don't intro skin flora into the tubes for culture!) ok after tt, in the end we still didn't get to follow any HO around. though we got to hang around two of them just to see the bld stuff. i'm getting v lost at the hosp, with all those secret passages tt link here and there and those places tt req access card... oh manz... we went in rounds tt day just to get out of the ward to the main lift lobby!

i shall blog abt my OT experience tomorrow.
