:: specialists are too specialised ::today i went for my f/u at nuh, same place same doc. anyway, apart from the normal ix, nothing much else. yup there was a reg in the clinic tt day... and the prof was so distracted. maybe she's just busy having to cope with all the work tt piled up while she was on sem. anyway, she was pretty short tempered today. hmmph... told me to 'use medical terms to describe cuz i'm not a layman'... walau... ok fine. i can't help it mah, i'm a patient at the moment.
anyway, when i told her of my DYSPEPSIA no a/w HEARTBURN, REGURGITATION and no CHEST PAIN, DYSPNOEA, SOBOE... she immediately wanted to refer me to a gastroenterologist for SCOPING! wey too much la... can't even give me some trial medication first... so i said: huh, SCOPE! w/o medical rx first! @@ <- these are my eyes, O <- this is my mouth.
so she relented and gave me omeprazole 20mg om.
next i told her, hey i've got calluses on my feet, is there anything else i could do to remove them? she said: use moisturiser... so i said, i use daily but doesn't help. and she said: use moisturiser will work... so i said: i USED but DOESN'T work.
haiz... face it she's NOT receiving... maybe i'll get hold of some salicyclic acid and nail filers... and we'll file that lot away! ha...
i agreed to take part in a study... 'prospective study of periodontal disease risk markers and treatment outcome of a periodontal programme for adult diabetics in singapore'. basically they'll need my tri-monthly HbA1c, lipid levels, CRP levels and periodontal condition. it sounded like a single blind study... but but... the one in charge actually read out aloud the grp i was placed in after i drew the lot! em, so it's non-blind? huh. heck, anyway i'm in the chk dental condition, scaling and oral hygiene education grp. haha.. better than just get oral hygiene education rite?
bleah. dunno wat the study will show. i got sooo confused by the doc explaining to me. anyway, the fact tt i'm taking part in it is because:
1. i'm such an amenable (or compliant) patient
2. i've overcome my dislike for dental procedures!!!
