sabato, dicembre 25, 2004 :: spanish x'mas dinner ::i had a reaaaaaaaaal special dinner today, at Streeters (Keong Saik Road). It was recommended by Michael. haha... if anyone's thinking of trying it and don't like it, you can have his head... (not mine... muahahaha...) here's what my family n my aunt had today: THE MENU ~~~ patatas bravas - potato wedges with salsa berenjenas con queso - eggplants stuffed with cheese ~~ hot tapas ~~ pollo al ajillo - chicken with garlic patatas rellenas - potato stuffed with beef calamari a la romana - deep fried calamari ~~ paellas ~~ paella valenciana - saffron rice with seafood and chicken paella arroz negro - rice with squid black ink, mussels, squid and prawns mmmmm..... the paella is a signature spanish dish... it's a rice (not our normal chinese/jap/basnati rice) that is cooked in a pan with the ingredients and simmered... kind of juicy... hehehe and nicely flavoured. the most special of all is the one that is totally BLACK, it might look a bit ookie yet is actually very nice. the squid ink doesn't change much of the taste. tapas are fingerfoods, divided into either hot or cold tapas. most people like to have a beer or two with friends, accompanied by some tapas. :) and... ah..... i lurve brinjals! i haven't had them for quite a long time... i like them plain and grilled, no chilli sauce/chilli seeds or tomato or prawn paste or watnots... just PLAIN GRILLED BRINJAL... hmm maybe next time someone has a bbq, i'll volunteer to make grilled brinjal! any takers?
