sabato, febbraio 26, 2005 :: wake up call ::I’ve never really heard of such a ridiculous situation… Someone who has lived for about 5 years in Singapore and recently gone to work in UK as a Professor does not know: - what is stonehenge - what is the big ben - what is the ‘changing of the guards’ O.M.G. I feel so sad for that guy… I think this is a wake-up call for a lot of people… A certificate, a prefix to our name eg. Dr means nothing, zilch, nada… It’s just paper, probably recycled paper. We can be just as ignorant of our surroundings if we don’t bother to keep up with our general knowledge. Plus, it’s not that hard is it? Just keep your eyes open, your ears open… Unless that ‘man’ actually ‘is an island’. "No man is an island, entire of itself
every man is a piece of the continent, a part of the main if a clod be washed away by the sea, Europe is the less, as well as if a promontory were, as well as if a manor of thy friends or of thine own were any man's death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind and therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls it tolls for thee." - John Donne
